A Look Back to November 2008, How Do You Feel Today?

The link above is to my November 17, 2008 blog “Attitude and Spirit are the Solution to the Economy”.
Looking back it is apparent that I had some rose colored glasses on. They were ripped away by the Obama agenda. Little did I, or anyone else know that Obama would govern from the far left. That his economic policies would translate into an all out attack on the private sector, with exemptions for Big Business, Wall Street, and Unions.
The principles from that 2008 blog still hold true, with one exception; the federal government under Obama with new mandates, taxes, rules and regulations are now the largest obstacles to recovery. This will call for even more hard work and determination to succeed.
To release this economy to be free to grow and allow people to achieve their unlimited potential will require a reversal from the wealth redistributionist big government stealing from the producers of the nation, and giving the fruits of their labor to the largest entitlement society of non-producers in our history.
This is an unsustainable course Obama has America on. The CBO confirms this with projections that by 2019 if Obama spending projections are accurate, the interest on our debt will exceed $1 trillion a year (at today’s record low interest rates), bankrupting the country (my words). The CBO simply says this is unsustainable, I say bankrupt.
If you don’t believe large entitlement states with high taxes, and unbearable regulations are unsustainable, just look to Europe. Greece, Ireland, Italy, Spain, and Portugal are all on the verge of bankruptcy. The Greek non-producer entitlement beneficiaries didn’t take kindly to their free lunch being taken away from them and rioted in the streets. People died. Just as their socialist, wealth redistribution experiments are dying.
This is the path Obama has us on. It will take a massive amount of American spirit, and toughness to reverse the damage already done, with even more damage on the horizon as the far left sense this will be their last chance to force their radical agenda down America’s throat as they did with health care. It may be a long while before they control all branches of government again. Hopefully never again. Let’s hope their sense is right.
However I remain optimistic that a return to limited government, repealing Obamacare, cutting spending, eliminating entitlements, restructuring social security, medicare, medicaid, lowering taxes, eliminating unnecesary regulations, and restoring property rights to citizens can and will be achieved.
When the shackles are removed from small business owners, entrepreneurs, and the middle class, unleashed to achieve their God given potential, America will return to the greatest economic power in the world, and return as the last bastion of hope for freedom in the world.
When this happens, stand back, I don’t want you getting hurt by the rapid expansion of the economy, and the jubilant celebrations in the streets when all celebrate, especially the 15.3 million without jobs; America is back!
Come November the choices will be stark for Americans. Continue down the path of an unsustainable entitlement society where we doom future generations to a lower standard of living, to a lifetime of slavery to debt, resulting in the loss of their liberty. Or a return to the founding principles of our nation of limited federal government, personal responsibility, freedom, and liberty.
It will come down to who has more votes. Those that believe they are entitled to the fruits of another’s labor simply because they were born Americans, and those who believe in the founding principles that individuals have a right to what they have earned.
Has our 234 year free Republic run its course? It has lasted longer than any other in history. Are we destined for freedom, or tyranny? The vote in November will reveal the fate of America. Will a benevolent Uncle determine our choices or will we the people?
