Time for a Few Laughs

January 24th, 2010

Many times I am asked; why do you publicly state your opinion about politics? Aren’t you concerned about alienating potential clients, and losing business? Nobody likes to lose business they otherwise would have earned by being the best they can be in their chosen field. Why then do so?

My decision was made when it became apparent that the direction our state and federal governments were taking us, was a path down the road to economic despair, and loss of liberty. The very essence of the American experiment is being challenged. Our economy ripped to shreds by government.

The choice then becomes do you stand idly, and silently by to benefit yourself financially, knowing the risks and threats to a way of life you love? What type of world would you be leaving your children? Would money be more important to them than their liberty, and opportunity to prosper on their own within a free society?

My answer can be heard weekly on WMAY during my Let’s Talk Real Estate program, or in my various blogs, articles, and posts. Perhaps I take myself too seriously. But that is a risk worth taking.

The Obama agenda was rocked with the election of Scott Brown in Massachusetts this past week. The response by president Obama himself was revealing. It is funny, and serious simultaneously. If you want a good laugh read Mark Steyn’s editorial at investors.com How’s That Again, Mr. President, For Us Schlubs Who Don’t Get It?.

My purpose has always been, when sharing my opinion regarding political policy, is to protect the rights of Americans who own a home, or who want to own a home. It matters not whether you are Republican, Independent, Democrat, conservative, moderate, or liberal.

If you own a home you should desire a strong economy that will allow your investment to rise in value, allow you to keep your job so you don’t lose your home, and have the right to the quiet enjoyment of that ownership. You should be able to sell that home when you desire, and at a fair price. However that can only happen when we have a sound economy, and free society. Sound economies, and free societies result from prudent government policy, laws, and regulations. We haven’t seen that lately.

If you have never owned a home, and you desire to do so, you should have that ability to achieve that goal. If we don’t have a sound economy, or there are government policies in place that prohibit your opportunity, then it is my duty to speak out against those policies.

My purpose for this article today is not to go into the detail or provide the evidence of the harm the Obama progressive policies are causing America today. For that you can read my weekly observations dated January 23, 2010. http://springfieldhome.com/uncategorized/january-23-2010-final-q4-numbers-for-2009/, or any of my numerous posts.

The intent of today’s article is to share with you the hilarious, but accurate assessment of president Obama’s response to the Massachusetts election during his interview with ABC’s Stephanopoulos, as written by Mark Steyn. Even though we live in perilous times, we all deserve a good laugh. Read Steyn’s editorial and start your week off with a smile and a chuckle.

Make this a great week!
