Why are the Majority of Americans Opposed to the Health Care Law?

March 25th, 2010

Many people are opposed to the health care law. Why?

Many believe that a government that dictates the purchase of insurance or any product, determining for us the type that we must accept, and threatens us with fines and penalties for failure to follow this edict, as violating our rights under the constitution, and denies us liberty. 39 state governments  agree &  are filing suit challenging the law.

We believe that the 159 new bureaucracies, boards, and commissions with the specific purpose of dictating rules to insurance companies, and  doctors as to our care violates the sacred relationship between the doctor and patient. This is a government takeover.

The president claims this bill will drive down costs. We believe the CBO scoring was based upon incomplete data. Left out was the doctor fix, and the double counting of Medicare cuts which will lead to perpetual deficits and onerous taxation.

We believe adding 15 million people to Medicaid will overwhelm a system already short of doctors, and decimate state budgets. In Illinois up to 600,000 additional Medicaid patients will cost state taxpayers an additional $1.5 billion by 2017. Illinois is already broke, due in large part to current Medicaid obligations.

We believe it is irresponsible at a time of economic malaise with 16 million Americans out of work, to impose $563 billion in new taxes that will lead to more job losses. Caterpillar calculated their first year cost of this law at $100 million forcing them to either lay off workers, or forgo a new plant in America. This being just one example.

We believe this new entitlement will add trillions to the cost of government which is already broke. A fat jockey on a skinny horse wins no races. The cost of big government will eventually crush the private sector.

We who oppose this law agree we must have reform, however this law is not reform, this is a radical government takeover for the sake of power, and control over the people against their will. Liberty is too steep a price to pay for insurance.

This law is like a contractor bulldozing your house when you asked for a remodeled kitchen, however this house is our republic.

First off, how can you sufficiently sum up in 120 seconds what has taken progressives 120 years to dismantle in American will, thrift, innovation, and benevolence?
